Diggin a hole...

In the home stretch of the dissertation.  Finishing up my lab work, heading into my final field season, and writing (and writing and writing).

The Field season has started with 14 traps out, finally caught 2 tortoises today.  Yesterday, Will and I checked on a telemetered tortoise.  This tortoise is known to have made a long distance movement and settled into less than ideal habitat.  Will and I decided to scope the burrow to see if we could see him before setting the trap.  At first, the tortoise appeared to be dead so we began digging.  I did not want to lose my equipment or data.  So we get the first hole dug and we put the camera in to see if we were close to him (still out of reach).  HE MOVED!! WHAT??? Turns out the burrow flooded and he is jammed in mud... we are still digging.  No turning back now... will update more later.

 Fun for everyone...
